c-tv, Live TV & Set Work
Twenty-odd student TV productions, a few years in live television, and a list of set jobs from audio to second assistant camera — the apprenticeship before the research.

Every filmmaker has an apprenticeship. Mine was long, varied, and occasionally conducted at three in the morning.
Live television (2014–2017)
While studying English and German at the University of Vienna — idly, for four semesters — I dipped my toes into live television. I worked as a production assistant and image technician, and operated EVS replay systems: the machines that give you the slow-motion highlight four seconds after the goal. Live TV teaches you one thing above all: there is no second take, so you’d better be ready for the first one.
c-tv
c-tv is the television training programme at USTP, and I worked on more than twenty productions there, big and small. A few favourites:
- Local Access: 06.04.1945 — camera and editing
- Local Access: Plattform — camera and editing
- Pimp Your Home Office — camera and editing
- Yilmaz — producer
- c-tv conference 2017 — lighting and camera
On set
- Sweet Candy (2017), by the extremely talented Yilmaz Vurucu — on-set audio
- #Goals (2017), by Marios Glöckner and René Rodlauer — second assistant camera
- First Date (2018), a beautifully shot short — assistant director
None of these are glamorous credits, and that’s the point. You learn filmmaking by doing every job badly once and then a little better the second time.
